About this site

For the past five years, we’ve been fully dedicated to building Trippz. What started as a bold idea is now a thriving company with great customers and a growing team of 18 people. We couldn’t be more proud of what we’ve achieved together.

But as any entrepreneur knows, once a business is running smoothly, the challenges change. The question of “will we make it?” is, for now at least, behind us. And with that, a certain itch returned: the urge to take on something completely new, something that pushes us beyond our comfort zone again.

Both of us, Jeroen and Ingmar, are passionate mountain bikers. It’s a topic we spend a lot of time talking about (Jeroen even lived in Girona for five years, just to be closer to the best climbs). So when the idea of a new adventure came up, the answer was obvious: the ultimate mountain bike race, Cape Epic 2026.

And here’s the great new: we got in. Cape Epic access is tightly controlled and apart from some early birds entries, that sell out on the spot, you can just get in through a lottery. And although we're not sure if the race is indeed as oversubscribed as they suggest, we don't care either. We're in!

And as the itch for a real challenge is clearly there, we set ourselves an though goal – finishing in the top 20 of the Masters category (41-50 yo), since we’re both 45. It’s ambitious, maybe even a totally crazy, if you consider in last year's edition the category was won by Karl Platt, a super-strong ex-pro....But hey, that’s exactly what excites us!

We’ve started training – with the help of the training app JOIN – and already the road ahead is filled with choices, lessons, and plenty of sore legs. And with that, we thought: why not share this journey? As we just signed up, we started looking for other riders' experiences. And there's a lot of stuff out there, but we couldn't find a story from preparation all the way up to finishing the race.

That’s how “Chasing Cape Epic” was born. A series where we’ll share our preparation for the race with fellow cycling enthusiasts. Not just the good rides, but the doubts, the mistakes, the gear decisions, the data, and the breakthroughs. Our goal essentially is to share what it takes for two mid-forties entrepreneurs to line up at the start of one of the toughest MTB races in the world in proper, competitive shape.

And who knows, maybe this will grow into something bigger – collaborations, experiments, or simply a community of riders chasing their own epic goals.

For now, this is the start. Welcome to Chasing Cape Epic. 🚵‍♂️🌍
